About

Who we are

Tidepoint is building the information platform for the salmon market: one live picture of the aquaculture supply chain, giving our users the real-time data they need to act.

What we do
We collect physical data from across the salmon supply chain, from sea conditions and fish health to wellboat traffic and slaughterhouse activity, and turn it into real-time information on supply, and forecasts of where it goes next. One place to see what is happening now, and what it is likely to mean.
Why we do it
Much of what moves the salmon market happens out of sight: at sea, in the pens and on the boats. Farmers, processors, exporters and traders all work at volumes where a small error costs millions of NOK. They deserve information as current as the product itself. And because fish health shapes supply, a clearer view of the market is also a clearer view of the fish.
How we do it
We develop machine learning algorithms with modern AI technology to estimate what cannot be observed directly, from wave conditions at farm sites to biomass and harvest timing. Each figure ships with its error band and the share of volume we observe directly, so you know how much weight it can carry.

Our team

Years of research have built a team that sits between fish and tech, and cares deeply about both. We use AI and machine learning to push the boundaries of what we can measure, turning raw information about the world into insight for everyone from sea to market.

Portrait of Endre Brekke Steen

Co-founder

Meet Endre

Endre holds master’s degrees in aquaculture and quantitative finance. He has worked in market analysis at the seafood company Stella Polaris, covering catch estimation, trade statistics and price forecasting, and at Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, where he built AI-driven risk models. At Tidepoint he builds the models and data pipelines behind the numbers our users see.

Outside work he enjoys ocean fishing and exploring the coast from the family cabin on Smøla.

Portrait of Thomas Hetland

Co-founder

Meet Thomas

Thomas holds an MSc in artificial intelligence, has founded and worked at several startups, and was previously at Norway's sovereign wealth fund. At Tidepoint he builds Tidepoint Terminal, the platform our users work in, and leads the work in applied and generative AI.

Outside work, Thomas spends his time in the mountains, dry fly fishing for trout. Far from screens and data, a quiet lake and a rising fish is how he switches off.

How we work

Accountability
Every estimate is scored against the week that settled, and the misses stay visible next to the hits.
Knowledge
Deep in aquaculture, data science and quantitative finance alike.
Sustainability
Fish health and the state of the sea shape supply, so they are inputs to the model.
Precision
A number without its uncertainty is half an answer. We publish both.

We talk to people across the salmon market every week. Yours would be a useful hour.
